7th Grade Reflections

When I first arrived at the front of Westridge Middle School I was a little nervous for a new grade and a whole new experience. I knew it would be a very challenging year for me in seventh grade. We actually got to pick electives such as Teen Skills where you get to cook and make pajama pants, and also a language such as Spanish and many more. I soon realized from previous seventh graders and experience that seventh grade was much like sixth grade but you have more homework and you have to do harder-more work. So that lifted a little weight off my shoulders because at first it felt like the work was on top of my shoulders.
By October, my life has changed and so has my school and homework schedule. I have to arrange my plans on the weekend and my plans during the week around how much time it can take to do all of my homework before Sunday comes around. Eventually I figured out that my teachers aren’t my enemies, they want me to better and they show that by helping me out whenever I need help on anything. In seventh grade, the most important things I took away from learning is time management, always do your homework if you have time in class and that English class is very fun. First of all, English doesn’t have that much homework, and second, the teachers are awesome. Many more things about English are fun though.
As the year draws to a close, I would like to see if I can convert my knowledge from seventh grade and use it as much as I can in eighth grade. If I had to take seventh grade again, I would take more time on my work, and try not to mess around as much and listen more often. My advice to incoming seventh graders is to work very hard at whatever you’re doing, and to always give as much effort as you can no matter what your doing. GIVE 110% ALWAYS!
Leadership
by dashh322 on May.04, 2014, under Uncategorized
Leadership is not something you are born with, it’s something you have to learn as you grow up. People use leadership in their everyday life, such as sports. In sports, there has to be a person who has to keep the whole team in shape. You can use leadership in jobs, the boss or manager has to make sure everyone is in line while working or he fires them. Without leadership, the world would be crazy and everyone would be scattered because there is no one to make sure everyone is in line, a leader. Without a leader, you could never win a game because there wouldn’t be someone to tell you what to do.
I was playing football on the first day of making the team, we were running routes and I didn’t know how to run a route. I needed a leader at that point to help me with that route. That’s when leadership comes into play. Jones Liddy comes over and tells me how to do it! That’s a leader I say. Leadership is something you learn throughout life, everyone should learn how to be a leader and nit just count on others one. A leader can be anyone that likes to be the center or leader of attention not just any person that’s not a leader.

Why Do You Love Football? By Candy Simpson
Why do you love football?
What do you see in it?
Why not watch another sport
Like Rugby, Golf, or Cricket?
Well let me answer that my friend
And put your mind at rest
I love the beautiful game
Because it’s simply the best
No other sport is as exciting
No other comes anywhere near
Football can create passion
And lots of atmosphere
It is loved all around the world
Most children kick a football
Rich kids, and poor kids
small kids, and some very tall
A good football match is a joy to watch
That’s why thousands go to every game
When you get goals and lots of action
All the fans are so glad that they came
So yes my friend I do love football
It’s by far the number one sport for me
So while you’re watching Golf and Cricket
I’ll be watching Match of the Day, or Man U F.C.
This is my favorite poem because it is about one of my favorite sports and also shares why he loves to play it. The author shares why football is an amazing sport and why other people like it also. This is my favorite poem.
Media and Memory

When I was little, I just couldn’t do without my Hot Wheels. I would take them anywhere, even out to dinner with me and even to play in the mud. If somebody took my hot wheels, I would cry until the sun goes down. Every time I went to a toy store, I always begged my mom to get some new cool hot wheels. They were the most fun thing in the whole world. Me and my friends would have races down slides at parks. Hot wheels has thousands of cars to choose from, from race cars, bicycles, to old fashioned cars. When me and my friends would race, it would get so intense that we would bet French fries. Whoever lost had to do something funny. Hot wheels are so special to me. Without hot wheels, I wouldn’t have had such a fun childhood. Hot wheels
My Favorite Mistake

Should I pursue or stay back? Getting in my stance, breaking down, and waiting to here the quarterback say the one word that means that it’s go time…HUT! This game was the first of my mighty mite season. Coach Ehlinger turns around and screeches, “HAMMETT!” Get in there on defense.” That’s exactly what I did. My mind goes blank, I’m just trying to find what to do in my thoughts. I’m clueless. I see the player of the other team going in motion. I break down with my thighs burning. The quarterback blares out the special word, “HUT.” My brain tells me that it’s a handoff but no it’s a fake. The second I realize that, it’s already too late! I look up only to see the ball taking flight over my head and into the receivers breadbasket.(hands) He sprints and scores a touchdown. I blew it. I let my whole team down. As I start to jog off the field, I clench my fists and my face turns red-very red. After experiencing this mistake I always ask somebody what to do rather than taking the chance of doing it wrong. I always think about this mistake because it taught me to not do it wrong and it doesn’t hurt to ask!
Halloween Front Porch

“On Halloween night it was a fright.” said wise man Jones Liddy. We walked over to the shack in the woods people called it because it was so scary but they gave out the best candy. While creeping up the creepy steps, trying not to make an entrance.
We heard a wolf howling, it sounded very close. We looked around the corner and there it was, a beautiful, bushy tailed wolf. We were all trembling, everybody. Broke out in a sprint across the woods, down the creek, and across the street back to jones’s house. None of us have ever been that scared, we were literally scared out of our skin. After that scary night, no one has ever gone back to that dark house.

Shoot! Shoot! 5 seconds left, make a three. Basketball is thrilling.
When you shoot a three pointer it has to go in, if it doesn’t everyone is mad at you and coach is yelling, when it goes in you feel like you’re on top of the world. I get an an open look, and I can’t resist launching it into the basket. Th-th-th-th-th-reeeeee! No one can stop me now. When the game is on the line, three pointers are important.
In addition, the screams of the crowd makes you want to make bigger plays. It’s pressure to win. If you keep calm and enjoy the game, the crowd actually helps. There is nothing that I love more than being in on clutch three pointer time, during the basketball game.
Basketball is a strive for greatness and when it’s almost over it’s the most competitive and you shine. Hopefully I can make a play that wins the game for everyone. For instance, when Matt Mathias hit a 30 footer right before the buzzer to win the game. Hmmmm…maybe next time I will sit the bench until clutch three pointer time then I will show my stuff.
Vocab Story

I relish running but I loathe walking. I decided to take a treacherous run down the captivating rainforest with my friend. My friend said we should run four miles, I said “no thanks.”
Let’s just stop bickering and start running
At that time there was bickering between us. We were finally in accord. There were lots of animals including a tiger, we tried to avert it as much as possible. The tiger disrupted our run and we were mad- very mad. The trail was rough but pretty durable to run on. We were very vulnerable to everything in the wild but we made it home safe. I came home and my mom gave me a drink that was potable.
Place

My favorite place in my house is my living room. My parents have a living room and the kids have a living room. It smells of vanilla as my whole house does! It has a tv, xbox, wii, a big greenish couch in the back, two old chairs in front and a small table for food in between them. It’s my favorite place because it’s the type of place where you can just chill out and be away from everything. My favorite place in the neighborhood would have to be a friend named Kristen’s house. She has everything! A huge pool, a trampoline-a giant trampoline, a mini skateboard ramp in the front yard. She lives across my best friends house, so it’s easy to get to.
Pain

Pain is blood red
It tastes like the iron of biting onto a penny,
And It’s a foul smell of green liquid oozing out of glimmer’s body.
It feels like a fireball grazing my leg,
And sounds like the cries of dying people.
It looks like blood shot eyes
If you can fight the pain, you can end up a victor
